McPherson Area
Solid Waste Utility
Serving the residents of McPherson County since 1991
The yard waste route in the City of McPherson will have its last pickup on Thursday December 26, and will resume on Wednesday March 6. Yard cart customers who would like a pickup during those times will need to call in and pay $5.00.

MASWU has determined that improper disposal of batteries may have caused the recent trash facility fires.  For the health and safety of our neighbors and our environment, we request that citizens and businesses not put most batteries in the trash.  Regular alkaline batteries are an exception that can be safely thrown away in small quantities.  All other batteries should NOT be put in the trash, this includes all rechargeable batteries and lithium ion batteries (most electronic devices).  These batteries can safely be disposed of at the MASWU HHW facility.  For more information, call 620-241-4432.  Several regional businesses such as Lowe’s, Menard’s and Home Depot accept them.  Locally, Tractor Supply and Orscheln’s accept some batteries but not all kinds, so please call ahead to confirm.

The mission of McPherson Area Solid Waste Utility is to serve the residents of McPherson County by providing high quality, safe, cost effective, and environmentally sound solid waste services today and for future generations.
